Do you need to be with your horse?

Or, do you want to be with your horse?

When you approach your horse with need you seek to take something from them.

Without this void you approach your horse with fulfillment—exchanging neediness with a deeper desire to be together. This is when something extraordinarily precious and inexplicably profound occurs.

How do you know the difference?

Need arises from lack. If you think your horse can give you something that you cannot give yourself, you have an emptiness—a void which you are asking the horse to fill.

Do you have a friend who you find needy? What might be some of their traits?

Demanding

Attention grabbing

Energy draining…

It doesn't matter what qualities you give them one thing is certain—too much of it and it becomes quite depleting.

Your horse wants to be the friend who can fulfill your needs but, like you they have limits. Sometimes they just need a break.

Something else also happens when you act from a place of need…

You unconsciously seek to create need in them.

You want them to need you so you may give them treats—even if they’re not ultimately good for them.

You may even withhold food from them in eager anticipation of the whinnies you’ll receive when feeding time arises.

Perhaps you even lock them up to create the need for them to get outside, play, and soak up some sun…

This is not conscious, it’s not your fault, and it’s not going to change overnight. These dependencies have been in place for thousands of years—and you’re the one now stuck within the vicious cycle that has become micromanagement.

But when you know why you’re in the middle of an established system that doesn’t have the best interest of your horse in mind you finally wield the power to change it.

Fill your own voids and you will give your horse the gift of YOU. Be with them—fully and completely—and you give them health, happiness, and harmony. They already give you their fullness—Presence.

Return the favor something truly remarkable happens:

You actually enter another dimension of existence—a realm with unlimited possibilities.

Presence is forged when need disappears.

Join your horse in the kingdom of possibilities for a remarkable bond, and you will take your performance together to new heights.
